The European Commission is expected to issue formal guidance on transition dates and interpretation of EN 301 893 following reports of 5 GHz WLAN equipment causing interference to meteorological radars employing non-constant pulse interval times (staggered or inter-leaved PRFs) in the 5600-5650 MHz band. The important immediate considerations for mass market products are ability to deal with staggered PRF or complete avoidance of the 5600 – 5650 MHz part of the band. Some technical background information is available from the IEEE 802 LAN/MAN Standards Committee 802.18 - the Radio Regulatory TAG

From 20 October 2005, certain Air Traffic Management equipment comes within the scope of the R&TTE Directive. This arises as a result of the repeal of Council Directive 93/65/EEC which formed the basis of the exclusion set out in by Annex 1 item 6 of the R&TTE directive.
